The Weapon Chest Mimic is an enemy that mimics a Large Weapon Chest. After beating the Nuclear Throne boss with Big Dog, Large Weapon Chests will randomly turn into Weapon Chest Mimics for every character. There's a 1/5 chance after the Sewers area that a Large Weapon Chest becomes a Weapon Chest Mimic. They explode on contact dealing 5-10 damage. Once the Mimic is killed, it will drop six weapons ignoring current game difficulty and 10 Rads.
There are a few ways to find out whether a Large Weapon Chest is a Weapon Chest Mimic or not:
- It won't have the "shine" effect that regular chests have,
- It will play an animation showing its teeth every once in a while,
- In the end the easiest way to know whether your chest is real or not in the heat of battle is to just shoot it.
